    [Civil War]. George B. McClellan Autograph Letter of Introduction Signed. One page, 7.75" x 9.75", n. p., circa July 1862. Addressed to General Montgomery C. Meigs, McClellan, at the tail end of his failed Peninsula Campaign and just days after engaging Lee in the Seven Days Battles, writes, in part as written: "Allow me to introduce to you my friend A R Arthur . . . of the Illinois Central R. R. who wishes a very short interview with you. Mr. A. can give you, if you wish it much information about the transportation in the West. He is in every regard reliable." Toned. Separation along the upper horizontal fold.
