    [Chester W. Nimitz]. Naval Group containing one Nimitz signed photograph, epaulettes, medals and ribbons, and military paraphernalia.
    Chester Nimitz Photograph Signed "C. W. Nimitz." One page, 13.5" x 10.5". The photograph was taken during the Japanese surrender aboard the USS Missouri, Tokyo Bay, September 2, 1945. Nimitz, Commander in Chief of the United States Pacific Fleet, is seen sitting at a large desk signing the surrender documents as the representative of the United States and is surrounded by officers of the U. S. Navy. Below the photo, Nimitz has inscribed: "To Captain Preston V. Mercer, USN - with best wishes and great appreciation of your contribution to the war effort which made possible the above scene. C. W. Nimitz, Fleet Admiral, USN." Nimitz's signature is also found on the documents in which he is signing, but is a copy from the original photograph. Toning along the edges, else fine.

    U. S. Navy Epaulettes (Commander). Two epaulettes, 5.5" x 2", each featuring one gold star and three gold stripes of equal width.

    Distinguished Flying Cross, awarded to Lt. (JG) Duan W. Linker, USNR, with presentation box, with corresponding ribbon; Air Medal with corresponding ribbon; American Campaign with corresponding ribbon; Asiatic Pacific Campaign with corresponding ribbon; World War II Victory with corresponding ribbon; American Defense, September 8, 1939-May 27, 1941; Occupation Service with corresponding ribbon; National Defense with corresponding ribbon; Navy Pistol Marksmanship with corresponding ribbon. Also, a Philippine Liberation and a Philippine Presidential Unit Citation ribbons. With miniature Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, American Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, and World War II Victory medals.

    Preston V. Mercer Brass Name Plate. 10" x 2". Mercer, a career naval officer, was Nimitz's flag secretary during the late 1930s and through the Second World War.

    Also includes one gold filled Navy Pilot Wings (large), one Navy V-5 Aviation Cadet patch, one gold filled Navy Pilot Wings (small), one U. S. Navy Emblem pin, two silver oak leaf Commander lapel pins, Five Naval uniform gold buttons, three small gold star pins.
