    [American Revolution]. John Sullivan Document Signed "Jno Sullivan." One page, 9" x 8", "HdQrs Providence,"January 26, 1779. This financial document requesting payment to the "Clothier General . . . for use of his Department" was signed by Continental Army Brigadier General John Sullivan following the battle of Rhode Island and immediately before his infamous march against Native American villages in New York and Pennsylvania. Sullivan played a significant role in the American Revolution and served as a New Hampshire delegate to the Continental Congress on two separate occasions. Fragile, with minor separations occurring at folds, reinforced along bottom margin, and small tears at top and side margins.
