[1868 Presidential Election]. Union Brevet Brigadier General Alonzo W. Adams Autograph Letter Signed. Two pages, 7.5" x 9.75", Wheeling, West Virginia, October 21, 1868, to former New York Governor Horatio Seymour regarding the upcoming election, in part: "I pray you do not be discouraged. We will carry the election yet, if Democrats will cease their senseless cry of 'wolf' 'wolf' and go to work like men." He further suggests that they adopt a strategy similar to Gen. Horatio Wright's at the Battle of Cedar Creek nearly four years to the day earlier [October 19, 1864]. Folds: two small holes near the right edge. Slight ink smudging.
