    Scarce freedom rally program

Martin Luther King, Jr. Signed Freedom Rally Program. A bifolium measuring 5.25" x 7.75"; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; July 29, 1960. Signed "Martin L. King Jr." in blue ink above his printed photograph, which appears on the second page of the program. First page announces a "Freedom Rally Sponsored by the Oklahoma City Baptist Minister's Association And Other Civic, Educational and Cultural Organizations in Oklahoma County" on July 29, 1960 at 7:30 P.M. featuring Dr. King as the principal speaker.

Program listing is printed on page three and includes scripture, prayers, and song, as well as additional NAACP speakers. This is the first example of a freedom rally program we have seen signed by Dr. King.

Condition: Heavy wear and creasing, with partial separations at the integral and horizontal folds, with bids of paper loss. Stray stains on page four with some showthrough. Right margin of top page has curled back, with no loss of paper. Heavy wear and tiny tears along bottom. Two bits of cello tape at top of pages one and four, likely for the purpose of display.
