Martin Luther King Jr. Inscribed Program Signed. Four integral pages, 6.25" x 8.5", Cleveland [Ohio], March 23, 1965. For nearly a decade, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. fought social injustice using the principles of non-violent resistance as practiced by Mohandas Gandhi, what King called true pacifism. For his efforts, Dr. King was awarded the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize (at 35 he was the youngest recipient of a Nobel Prize to date) and a cash award totaling $54,123 which he donated to further the civil rights movement.

The following year, to celebrate his achievement, the Cleveland Civic Committee held a dinner in King's honor. Dr. King has inscribed and signed this program on the first page offering best wishes to the Liggins family. With only the slightest hint of toning along the edges and small spots of foxing.

Dr. King held firm to the principles of non-violence until his tragic assassination on April 4, 1968.
