    Description

    Marie Curie Laboratory Document Signed "M. Curie". One partially printed page, 8.5" x 12.25", Paris; September 25, 1929. Certificate No. 6083, on Institut du Radium/Laboratoire Curie letterhead. With handwritten annotations to the document likely completed in the hand of Curie's assistant. Written in French, the research document approves the results of an experiment regarding radiation emitted by doses of radium. Signed five months before her death, which is thought to have occurred as a result of her exposure to radiation.

    Marie Curie (1867-1934) discovered the atoms of radium and polonium, which were both named by her in honor of her Polish ancestry.

    Condition: Flattened folds and creasing, with light toning throughout. One spot of soiling at the top left corner. Light foxing. Two small holes at the lower fold. Signature is clear and bright.
