Margaret Mitchell Typed Letter Signed "Margaret Mitchell Marsh." One page, 7" x 11", on her personal letterhead, Atlanta, February 7, 1938, to Miss Esther J. McDermott, Waukegan, Illinois, with the original transmittal envelope. In full:

"I wish sincerely that I could help you out of your predicament and give a copy of the letter which I wrote to Mrs. Joel Chandler a year or so ago, but I cannot do this as I have no copy of it and, of course, cannot recall word for word what I wrote her. I remember that she wrote me lovely letters and I replied with pleasure and appreciation. Even if I had copies, I do not think we could "put it over on her" as I have changed typewriters since writing her. I am so sorry I cannot help you in this matter."

A touch of mild handling wear and with the usual old fold creases, else fine condition.
