    Louis Pasteur Autograph Letter Signed. One page with integral blank, 4.5" x 7", in French, Paris, July 6, 1884. French chemist Louis Pasteur (1822-1895), the "father of microbiology," addresses an unknown recipient regarding a recent visit with French composer, Auguste-Emmanuel Vaucorbeil (1821-1884), in which Pasteur is discussing a possible part for a female friend in Vaucorbeil's upcoming production, in part: "Mr. Vaucorbeil has just been good enough to receive us . . . And here is the result of our interview. Write him to notify him of the day Mlle. Marguerite will be ready for this or that role that you are to indicate to Mr. Vaucorbeil, telling him furthermore whether our young friend needs cues so that he can see to it. He only wants to hear it on the opera stage in a small group . . . When everything has been decided, please be kind enough, dear sir, to let me know." Light staining, mostly along the left edge. Mounting remnants on the verso of the blank.
