Lionel Barrymore Letter Archive. Substantial correspondence consisting of 16 letters written between September 25, 1941 and December 15, 1945. Barrymore, one of Hollywood's immortal stars, became involved in orchestrating musical scores and began writing to Fabien Sevitzky, conductor of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. These letters are on five styles of Barrymore's personal stationery, with 13 being Typed Letters Signed and three being Autograph Letters Signed. Also included are three telegrams from Barrymore to Sevitzky, two copies of Sevitzky letters to Barrymore, and three of Barrymore's typed drafts. Excerpts from Barrymore's letters read in small part, " ...I shall be delighted to try my hand at the orchestrating of the 'Sea Pieces'...I have loved the 'Sea Pieces' ever since I can remember...No doubt you have the score and parts by now. I hope you do not disapprove of the change of key. I have never been so honored and I would of course be there - but I will be making movies here...I tried it with my friend and mentor Eugene Zador...I have no secretary as I had died - and the one before that too - and I am superstitious enough to be frightened - and so I have none...It was kind indeed that you saw me on the screen and i appreciate your being so very nice about it...Since you have done me the great honour of permitting me to submit a Prelude to you, I have thought of nothing else...The F sharp idea in the clarinets on page 35 is wonderful and just shows how carefully you treat my little work...". 25 items total. Overall very good to fine condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
