John Wesley Hardin: A Rare, Signed Shot-Through Playing Card from this Notorious Texas Gunslinger. Shot several times in the center of the card and dated July 4, 94, ink-signed J. W. Hardin in the border. Reportedly 6 such examples dated July 4 are known, suggesting that they may have originated at a shooting competition or exhibition in conjunction with the holiday celebration. There were perhaps 17-18 such cards made and all were in the possession of Hardin at the time of his death. Great provenance, having come from the distinguished collection of Craig A. Fouts.

Hardin was considered by many to be the "baddest" and most dangerous of the infamous gunfighters. His signed items are always highly sought-after, and this is an exceptionally nice form of his autograph. From the collection of Donald P. Dow.
