    Description

    John Tyler "Affix-the Seal" Document Signed as President. One partially-printed page with blank integral, 8" x 8", Washington, D.C.; December 30, 1844. The document directs the Secretary of State to "affix the Seal of the United States to the remission of the fine, and penalties incurred by John B. Colby, master of the Barque 'Pomona' upon the conditions mentioned." Signed "John Tyler".

    John Tyler became the tenth president--the first via succession--upon the premature death of President William Henry Harrison, the shortest serving president. Together with a lithograph of Tyler.

    Condition: Lightly toned with usual mail folds. Document has been trimmed at the top, does not affect any text. Small clean tear along bottom.
