    John Ireland Land Grant Signed "Jno Ireland." One partially-printed page, 17" x 13.75", Austin, April 7, 1885, granting to "Rutha [Bertha] A. White assignee of James L. White . . . One Hundred and Twenty seven & 74/100 (127 74/100) acres of Land, situated . . . In Lamar County." Docketed on the verso. Ireland (1827-1896) served in the Confederate Army, reaching the rank of colonel, the Texas House, and briefly on the Texas Supreme Court, before being elected the eighteenth governor of Texas. Slight staining found in places along the edges.
