    John C. Calhoun Autograph Letter Signed as Vice President "J. C. Calhoun". One page written on the recto and verso, 7.75" x 9.75", Washington, February 5, 1828. In this fascinating letter John C. Calhoun provides important genealogical information regarding his father's origins. With the usual fold crease and light toning, otherwise bold, bright and in fine condition.

    More Information:

    He writes in part: "I have often heard my father, who died when I was very young, speak of the Baltimore family of Calhouns as relations, but in what degree I do not recollect...The family of my father emigrated from Donegal Ireland in the year 1733 and settled not far from Lancaster Pennsylvania where they resided many years."
