Description
John Butterfield and William Fargo Signed 1865 American Express Stock Certificate. One page, 12.25" x 8.5" (sight), New York City; March 1865. Certificate number 1765. American Express Company stock certificate certifying that James Edwards of Albany was entitled to one share of stock valued at 500 dollars. Signed by John Butterfield as president and William Fargo as Secretary and countersigned by Alex Holland as Treasurer. Matted and framed to an overall size of 19.5" x 21.5". Framed with incorrect information dating the document to 1869. Not examined outside of the frame.Condition: Lightly toned with some minor edgewear. Chipping to right margin.
