DescriptionJefferson Davis Signature. Davis signs this 4.5" x 4.3" card as, "Jefferson Davis." The signature was originally on a white sheet of paper, which has been laid down on a sturdy black card stock. Attached to the card stock, aside from the signature, is a small picture of a confederate flag, and a two-line newspaper clipping stating the years of Davis' birth and death. The signature is dated, July 25th, 1853. This was likely signed shortly after he was named Secretary of War under Franklin Pierce.
The signature is in very fine condition; light staining present; has been laid down, glue is visible through the paper. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
