    Description

    James Earl Carter Autograph Letter Signed "Jimmy Carter" as President. One page on White House letterhead, 8.75" x 7.75"; Washington; November 28, 1977. To Dorothy and Durelle Anderson in Albany Georgia, he writes, in full: "I'm glad to hear that Durelle is recovering so well and is back on the job. Give your family my regards, & congratulations to Steve." Dorothy and Durelle Anderson lived in Plains, Ga. in the mid 1950s and were obviously close acquaintances in the small town of 680 people. By the time of writing, they had moved to Albany, Georgia.
    Only a handful of handwritten letters by Carter while in office have appeared at auction since 1977. With original transmittal envelope. Single mail fold, else very fine.

    Together with Rosalynn Carter Autograph Letter Signed "Rosalynn Carter". One page, 9.5" x 6.25", on White House Letterhead, [Washington], 28 December 1977, to Mrs. Durelle Anderson, sending New Year's Wishes for 1978. In full: "We enjoyed hearing from you with news of all your family. We were glad to be together with our family again during Christmas at home. Congratulate Steve and Clare for us. We wish them much happiness. Give our love to Durelle - and we wish you a Happy 1978." Together with original envelope. Usual mail folds, else very fine.
