Wilbur and Orville Wright at the White House

Wilbur and Orville Wright Signed Photograph, Also Signed by President William H. Taft and other notables. The photograph (9.25" x 7") is mounted to a Harris & Ewing mount measuring 11" x 8.5" (sight). It was taken at the White House on June 10, 1909 on the occasion of the brothers receiving medals from the Aero Club of America. Other notables pictured and signing include: sister Katherine Wright; pioneering aviator and publisher A. Holland Forbes; aviator Alan R. Hawley; automotive pioneer Charles Jerome Edwards, and Assistant Secretary of War Robert Shaw Oliver. From the Estate of Malcolm S. Forbes.

Condition: Framed to an overall size of 17.25" x 15". Unexamined out of frame, but there is evidence of extensive damage to mount, including several cracks, dampstaining and a large chip missing along the left side. There appears to be a repaired crack traversing Wilbur's signature. There is a sheen to the mount that suggests that some adhesive has been brushed over its surface at an earlier time as a means of restoration.
