    Description

Thomas Edison Photograph Signed "Thos A Edison." A handsome 6.75" x 4.75" black and white photograph, n.p., n.d. (circa 1920s). The image shows Edison seated on a porch with congressional representative Frederick Landis, with two young boys and a group of men standing behind the pair. The photograph has been mounted onto thick cardstock, measuring 9.5" x 7" overall, and Edison has inscribed on the card below the photograph "To Frederick Landis." This photograph has been kept in the Landis family and is offered for the first time here. It was consigned together with lot 47050, the Civil War Archive of Abraham Landis.

Condition: Photograph margins are slightly scratched and soiled, and there are a few small scratches and imperfections at the edges of the photograph. The corners of the cardstock are worn and bumped, with soiling at the lower edge; this does not affect the signature.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
