Orville Wright Photocard Signed "Orville Wright" in ink in the lower left corner. This "First Man-Flight" postcard (5.25" x 4") features a black and white image of the Wright brothers' first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, on December 17, 1903. Orville's signature, which is slightly faded, is undated. Following the death of his brother Wilbur in 1912, Orville stayed active in the public eye, promoting aeronautics by utilizing such marketing tools as the image offered here. We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
