Max Planck Document Signed. One partly-printed page, 8.25" x 13", July 22, 1914. Planck has signed as the rector at the University of Berlin attesting to the moral standards of student Lothar Hock. A mathematician and theoretical physicist, Planck, most known for his contributions to thermodynamics, was a founder of quantum theory and quantum physics who established a unit of electromagnetic radiation known as Planck's constant. He received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1918. (Incidentally, Planck lured Albert Einstein back to Berlin with a teaching position at the university in the fall of 1914.) Smoothed folds; toned paper.
