    Louis Pasteur Autograph Postcard Signed "L. Pasteur." 4.5" x 3.5", Paris; May 18, 1886. Addressed to an unknown recipient, written in French. Pasteur makes a case for a Russian boy who had been bitten by a rabid dog, stating that he would cover the medical expenses for the boy due to the fact that his parents were too poor to pay for the treatment. Accompanied by a black and white image of Pasteur. French chemist Louis Pasteur (1822-1895), is known as the "father of microbiology". He is best known for his remarkable breakthroughs in the causes and prevention of disease. He is noted for inventing a method to stop milk and wine from causing sickness, a process which came to be called pasteurization.

    Condition: Minor edge toning and bumped corners. Light soiling on verso.
