    Joseph Lister, 1st Baron Lister, Autograph Letter Signed "Lister." One page, 4" x 6.75" (sight), London, March 25, 1901, to "Dean . . . [returning] the enclosed with thanks. They are very satisfactory." Using the work of Louis Pasteur, Lister (1827-1912) pioneered the use of phenol to sterilize surgical tools. Fold, else fine. Matted with a side portrait of a heavily whiskered Lister and framed to an overall size of 15" x 12.25".
