Alexander Graham Bell Typed Letter Signed. One page, 8" x 10.5", Nova Scotia, March 1, 1910, to Henry W. Maynard, son of former Bell Telephone agent and friend, George C. Maynard, regarding the request for a position in his company. Bell writes, in full:

"Your note of Feb. 24 just received. I am very sorry that I have no opening here for you as I should be very glad to give a helping hand to a son of my old friend Mr. Geo. C. Maynard. My Laboratory will close very soon and when it will be opened again I do not know as I propose to start for a journey around the world. I shall be glad to mention your name to Mr. Douglas McCurdy of the Canadian Aerodrome Company in case he cares to set himself in communication with you."

Best known for his invention of the first practical telephone, Bell was also involved in other areas of practical science such as aeronautics and the development of hydrofoils for faster travel on the sea. Shortly after writing this letter, Bell went on a world tour with his laboratory and estate manager, Casey Baldwin. Edges are lightly to moderately toned as is the area around Bell's signature, which remains bold and bright.
