Einstein hosts a dinner for the Conference on Jewish Relations

Albert Einstein Typed Letter Signed. Two pages of a bifolium, on his blind embossed letterhead, 5.5" x 8.5". Princeton, New Jersey; March 12, 1936. A letter to sociologist Sigmund Mendelsohn inviting him to a dinner hosted by Einstein on behalf of the Conference on Jewish Relations. In part: "To all lovers of truth in human relations, it must be heart warming to know that a group of scholars and scientists in our leading universities have banded together under the leadership of Professor Morris R. Cohen to promote scientific and research in regard to the basic factors which determine the position of the Jew in the modern world..."

Cohen founded the Conference on Jewish Relations in 1933 in response to increasing anti-Semitism in the United States and Adolph Hitler's growing power in Europe. Cohen's stated goal was to collect and analyze data on "the true state of Jewish social, economic, and political activism in the present as well as in the past..." By 1936, membership had grown to more than six hundred, including Einstein.

Condition: The letter is written on the first and fourth page of a bifolium, making it ideal for display. Age-toned, darker along the center fold. Light soiling, and some wear along the horizontal folds.

Reference: A Passion for the True and Just: Felix and Lucy Kramer Cohen and the Indian New Deal, by Alice Kehoe. University of Arizona Press, 2014.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
