Herbert Hoover Consent for Use of Name as First Choice for the Presidency Signed Form. One partially printed page, 7.5" x 5.5", Kansas City; June 12, 1928. This form was Hoover's official declaration as a candidate for President of the United States at the Republican National Convention. It reads, in part: "I, Herbert Hoover...hereby authorize and give my consent to W.E. Wenner... to use my name in a Declaration of Candidacy as Alternate to the Republican National Convention as his First Choice for the nomination for the Presidency of the United States..." Countersigned by George Akerson and Laurence Richey, who would both later serve in his administration.

Matted alongside a Declaration of Candidacy form for W.E. Wenner to serve as an Alternate from the Nineteenth Congressional District of Ohio dated February 18, 1928. At bottom, Wenner signs a printed statement asserting that "Herbert Hoover is my First Choice for nomination as candidate of my party for the Presidency of the United States, and that James R. Garfield is my second choice therefor." The verso is signed by the five electors of the state of Ohio authorizing Wenner to serve as alternate for the Nineteenth Congressional District.

Also, a Consent for Use of Name as Second Choice for the Presidency form signed by James R. Garfield. All three forms are matted front and back with an Underwood & Underwood photograph of Hoover. From the Estate of Malcolm S. Forbes.

Condition: Matted to an overall size of 20" x 20". Mat board is fragile, with chipping at one corner; documents appear to be adhered directly to the mat. Lightly toned.
