Henry "Heck" Thomas Autograph Document Signed "H. A. Thomas" as deputy U.S. Marshal. Two partially-printed pages, 8.25" x 14", Chandler, Oklahoma, April 21, 1910. The Old West lawman has signed and engrossed this U.S. Marshal's return for a circuit court case from the Eastern District of Oklahoma (United States of America v. Claude M. Aman, et al.) stating that he "made diligent search for the within named Defendant Lowa Wray in my District, but am unable to find the said defendant." This document, with a bold signature by Thomas, is toned (uneven in places) with smoothed folds.

Henry Andrew Thomas (1850-1912) lived near violence most of his life, beginning with his service in the Civil War as an adolescent. Afterwards, he worked in various law enforcement capacities in Georgia, Texas, and in Arkansas where he served as a deputy U.S. marshal under Judge Isaac Parker. Later he worked with fellow deputy U.S. marshals Chris Madsen and Bill Tilghman - a trio known as the Three Guardsmen - to bring justice to the Indian Territory. The Guardsmen gained a reputation for bringing over 300 outlaws, including members of the Doolin and Dalton gangs, to justice; Thomas himself killed Bill Doolin.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
