Hattie McDaniel Typed Letter Signed "Hattie McDaniel." One page, 8.5" x 11", Hollywood, California, September 15, 1950. Written to a Miss Barbara Waggener, it reads in part, "…Thanks for your kind letter of recent date. It was nice of you to express you appreciation for the work that we are doing as the cast of the Beulah show…" Hattie McDaniel is most remembered for her role as Mammy in Gone With The Wind, however, at the time of this letter she was starring as the main character in the TV/radio show Beulah. McDaniel's role as Beulah represented the first time an African-American woman had the lead role in a TV series, this coupled with her distinction as the first African-American woman to receive an Oscar makes her quite a trailblazer.

The letter is in fine condition; the usual folds are present; the upper and lower left corners are both badly torn and pieces are missing; this does not affect any of the text or signature. The signature itself is bold and dark! Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
