Truman and his cabinet consider the impending Japanese surrender

Harry S. Truman and Cabinet Signed Photograph. 14" x 11", mounted and in original French matte (19" x 16" overall), August 10, 1945. The black and white photograph shows President Truman, members of his cabinet, and advisors discussing the impending surrender of the Empire of Japan. The atomic bomb had been dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, and the bombing of Nagasaki followed on August 9. The shock of events finally pushed Hirohito over the edge, and on August 15, he would make a radio address announcing the surrender of Japan.

All men pictured signed below the image: Harry Truman, President; James F. Byrnes, Secretary of State; Fred M. Vinson, Secretary of the Treasury; Henry L. Stimson, Secretary of War; James Forrestal, Secretary of the Navy; Tom Clark, Attorney General; Robert E. Hannegan, Postmaster General; J. A. [Julius] Krug, Chairman of the War Production Board; Clinton P. Anderson, Secretary of Agriculture; Henry A. Wallace, Secretary of Commerce; L. B. [Lewis Baxter] Schwellenbach, Secretary of Labor; John B. Blandford, Jr.; Federal Housing Administrator; Abe Fortas, Under Secretary of the Interior; John W. Snyder, Director, Office of War Mobilization and Reconversion; William H. Davis, Economic Stabilizer; and, Leo Crowley, Foreign Economic Administrator. William H. Davis' signature has all but faded, however, the rest remain visible. Mounted photograph has come loose from the mat, which has light age toning, otherwise very good.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
