    Georges Cuvier Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 7.5" x 9.5", circa 1820. In French, asking a minister for a report on the local elections. It reads, in part: "...I am working on this report, and I copy some of the ideas I have submitted to you in time. Nevertheless, you may be very glad to know it before reading, to make sure that there is nothing there that is not suitable for your streets. If that is the case, as I must present on Thursday of the council, I would ask you to grant me a half hour in the evening of Wednesday ..."

    Together with a Dr. Richard Harlan Autograph Letter Signed. One page of a bifolium, 7.75" x 10", Philadelphia, September 21, 1824, addressed to Cuvier, presenting him with an Amphiuma Means (two-toed amphiuma). Cuvier has written a note in the top left corner, in French.

    Condition: Light toning with some ink spots and transference, mail folds, else fine.
