    George Washington Autograph Receipt Signed Within the Text. One page, 6.5" x 2.5", n.p., July 10, 1771. In full "Received from George Washington One pound seven shillings and three pence in full for the within shells. Chas. His mark Lewis. July 10, 1771." Washington has added a filing docket at right margin: "No. 68 Ch Lewis / L 1 ˜ 7 ˜ O / 10 July 1771 / L." Abbot's The Papers of George Washington, Vol. 8, lists a purchase of "136 Bushls [sic] Oyster shells @ 20/" for this exact amount. Single fold at center, very bold ink. Near fine, matted and framed with a color portrait of Washington, to an overall size of 13.25" x 20.5".
