    Gershwin writes: "RHAPSODY IN BLUE was composed in about three weeks"

    George Gershwin Typed Letter Signed. One page on his imprinted letterhead, 8.5" x 10.75"; New York, New York; August 31, 1933. A letter to Stanley Salomon providing details of his most noted work, "Rhapsody in Blue": "The RHAPSODY IN BLUE was composed in about three weeks time. I began composing it January 7, 1924, and its first performance was in Aeolian Hall February 12, 1924..." Signed, "George Gershwin." Together with the original transmittal envelope.

    Condition: Flattened folds. Tiny bit of paper loss at lower left corner, with tiny tear at top margin near right corner. All four corners have light creasing. Evenly toned with bold signature. Transmittal envelope has been sliced open at top, with light soiling and staining from adhesive.
