    George Gershwin Signed Sheet Music for "Strike up the Band for UCLA." 6 pages (including the color front and back covers, 9" x 12", circa 1936. Signed "George Gershwin" on the front cover. Included is an insert on green paper (8.5" x 11"), explaining that Ira Gershwin had written new verses especially for the university and the guidelines for its use by the school and announcing its premiere including a performance by George Gershwin at the University.

    Together with an invitation and ticket for the memorial services for George Gershwin held on July 15, 1937; and a scrapbook kept by Ardis Kettelle, who attended UCLA as a freshman in the fall of 1936.

    Condition: The sheet music is pristine, save mat burn on the interior pages caused by the insert that was laid in as issued. Some dampstaining to the memorial invitation. Pages of scrapbook are fragile. Scrapbook is included as provenance only to provide context for the origin of the sheet music.
