George Armstrong Custer: An Attractive Display Including Autographs of Custer and Wife Elizabeth. Mounted in a beautifully carved period frame with eagle at top. Large, bold clipped signatures, framed along with correct brass cavalry uniform coat and cuff buttons and five brass Seventh Cavalry insignias, with the letters representing the five companies who perished with Custer at Little Bighorn. The insignias are original, but of a type which came into use in 1877, the year after Custer's defeat. In all probability they date from the Indian Wars period of the 1880-1890s. An attractive and moving display, measuring 14.5" x 22".

This lot is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from John Reznikoff/University Archives for the G.A. Custer signature.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
