George Armstrong Custer: An 1874 Discharge Document Signed by Him as Commander of the 7th Cavalry. Also signed by Lt. Donald McIntosh, who died at Little Big Horn. McIntosh commanded Company G under Reno, and was pulled from his horse, killed, and mutilated during the frantic retreat back across the river. In 1995 a finger bone with his wedding ring was discovered on the battlefield near McIntosh's memorial marker. McIntosh adds his evaluation of the private being discharged at the bottom and signs.

The document exhibits moderate overall age browning as shown, with typical discoloration along the original fold lines. These documents were typically folded to carry in one's pocket, so condition issues are not unusual. Good, strong Custer signature. 7.5" x 9.75".
