    -November 22, 1929. Albany, New York. One page. 9.75" x 16". State of New York seal.
    -Very good, with center horizontal fold, small tear at left of fold, and small tape stains at side borders.

    FDR issues an Executive Proclamation concerning the annual sale of Christmas Seals. The document reads (in part): "I, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Governor of the State of New York, do proclaim to all our people The Annual Sale of Christmas Seals to be conducted from November 29, 1929, to the beginning of the year 1930, at the same time urging them to lend every support to this great humanitarian endeavor by purchasing 'these seals of surety' thus insuring that the benevolent work of eradicating tuberculosis will be consummated."

    Franklin D. Roosevelt, a full-page folio State of New York vignetted document signed as Governor, Albany, November 22, 1929. FDR issues an Executive Proclamation. The proclamation reads: "Whereas, the advent of the Holiday Season with all its prospective pleasures brings to mind the joy and satisfaction arising from the ability to make others happy, and/ Whereas for many years there has been conducted an annual nation-wide sale of Christmas Seals, the proceeds of which in the past furnished the financial sinews that aided and accelerated the triumphant endeavors of the medical profession and benevolent and charitable organizations to curb tuberculosis, and/ Whereas, confronted as we are with the necessity of continuing the good fight, now that the fruits of victory have been garnered in large measure as is indicated by statistics compiled by various humanitarian instrumentalities, public and private, which have undertaken in the interest of humanity to suppress completely insofar as is possible this preventable and curable bane to mankind, to the end that future generations may profit and benefit by the diligent and determined efforts to relegate this dread disease to the footnotes of medical history,/ Now, Therefore, I, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Governor of the State of New York, do proclaim to all our people/ The Annual Sale of Christmas Seals/ to be conducted from November 29, 1929, to the beginning of the year 1930, at the same time urging them to lend every support to this great humanitarian endeavor by purchasing ‘these seals of surety' thus insuring that the benevolent work of eradicating tuberculosis will be consummated./ Given under my hand and the Privy Seal of the State at the Capitol in the City of Albany this twenty-second day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine./ Franklin D. A fabulous and official proclamation by Governor Roosevelt showing his interests and devotion to charitable causes beyond the scope of infantile paralysis or polio. LF.
