Description

Franklin D. Roosevelt and Herbert Hoover: Cut Signatures Matted with 1933 Inauguration Photograph.
    -[March 4, 1933] FDR: 4" x 1". HH: 3.25" x 1.5". Photograph: 8" x 10" black and white. Matted and framed to 14" x 18"
    -Fine.

Two excellent presidential signatures matted with a photo depicting the historical "changing of the guard" at the White House as Hoover, after being defeated in the landslide 1932 election, rides with Roosevelt in his convertible on Inauguration Day, March 4, 1933. A few photos of this event were snapped. This one shows Hoover in slightly better spirits than the others.

A very neat FDR and Herbert Hoover presentation piece, featuring separate matted signatures of the outgoing and incoming Presidents of the United States. Above the cut signatures of FDR and Hoover is mounted a 7 ½ x 9" black and white photograph of FDR and Hoover sitting uncomfortably next to one another in the back seat of the uncovered convertible Presidential limousine on March 4, 1933, on the way to FDR's inauguration as President of the United States. FDR's signature "Franklin D. Roosevelt" measures 1 x 4." Hoover's signature measures 1 x 3." The entire presentation piece is matted and framed to an overall size of 14 x 18" in black frame, a very interesting FDR and Herbert Hoover presentation piece.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
