Description
Francis Crick and James Watson Twice Signed Profile in a Publication. Two separate sheets (pages 313-316), 8 1/4 x 11 1/4 inches. Removed from an unknown publication focusing on the sciences, a profile of the two scientists giving an overview of their discovery of the DNA double-helix structure. Signed on bottom margin below a photograph of the scientists posed with a model of the DNA structure, "James D. Watson" and "Francis Crick." They both sign again on the facing page containing illustrations of their DNA model.Francis Crick (1916-2004), a British biophysicist, and James Watson (1928-), an American biologist, are credited with the discovery of the DNA double helix structure. A milestone that would transform molecular biology and genetics, earning them the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1962.
Condition: Uneven, rough edges where the pages were disbound, including a small tear at the top of page 314, and small area of loss at the top of page 315. Watson's signature on page 314 has some ink smudging that transferred to the facing page but does not affect signature or text.
