    Description

Ford's Theatre: Playwright Tom Taylor Grouping. Three items for the British playwright of "Our American Cousin" and editor of "Punch". Includes an "Acting Edition" of Taylor's comedy "Still Waters Run Deep" (circa 1855-6, disbound, lacking rear cover, last endpaper detached), a Woodbury sepia photograph by Lock & Whitfield on an 8" x 11" paper mount, a 6" x 7 ½" charming letter dated June 29, 1877 responding to Miss Emma Catlin's request for multiple autographs of the author, signing nine times at the bottom and twice within the text. "Mr. Tom Taylor has much pleasure in gratifying Miss Emma Catlin's very innocent and inexplicable wish to possess his signature. He has even repeated it the number of Taylors necessary to represent the man." He offers a reprimand at top, however, saying: "But why did not Miss Emma Catlin prepay her letter?"

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
