    Description

FIVE WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT AUTOGRAPHS. One of Taft’s first political jobs was as a customs collector in his native Cincinnati, dealing with federally regulated goods such as liquors. Offered here is an uncut sheet of 5 inspection certificates (series 1878, the year Taft graduated from Yale), each with Zachary Taylor’s portrait, and each signed by Taft as district collector. Since they are otherwise blank, we assume that Taft presigned them so that subordinates could fill out the details. The sheet could be kept intact for display, or cut apart into five separate Taft autographed pieces. Perfect condition, nice item. Also comes with an early 1900’s color postcard of the "Post Office and Custom House, Cincinnati, Ohio," where Taft worked. Overall 7 ½" x 12 ½". LOA Spence/Grad PSA DNA.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
