    Fantastic Lot of Correspondence From Notable Women including: 1) Gertrude Ederle, First Woman to Swim the English Channel, Typed Letter Signed "Gertrude Ederle", one page, 8.5" x 11", New York, October 16, 1926, Ms. Ederle thanks an unnamed friend for a thoughtful letter, with the usual fold creases, otherwise in excellent condition. 2) Astronomer Maria Mitchell Autograph Letter Signed "Maria Mitchell", two pages, 5" x 8", [Poughkeepsie, New York], June 22, 1870, to Mrs. Loring, Ms. Mitchell encourages Mrs. Loring, chairman of Vassar's repair committee, to have necessary repairs done to the big telescope "as early as is convenient to you", a bright, legible letter in excellent condition. 3) American Mountaineer Annie Smith Peck Autograph Letter Signed "Annie S. Peck", two pages, 5.25" x 6.5", New York, September 2, 1920, to the President of Peru, Augusto B. Leguia y Salcedo, a long letter in which Peck critiques existing public relations presentations of behalf of Peru and finds them wanting, and recommends she take over and modify them "to secure the best results for Peru", with the usual fold creases, else very good condition. 4) Annie Smith Peck Autograph Letter Signed "Annie S. Peck", two pages, 6.5" x 5.25", Boston, October 15, [no year], Peck apologizes for omitting a stamped envelope in a recent correspondence, with the usual fold creases, mounted to a backing sheet via the top edge of the verso, else fine condition.
