Emily Greene Balch Signed Photo. A 5" x 7" matte-finish black and white portrait photo in its original folder. Miss Balch has added, vertically along the left edge, a long quote from the speech she submitted in acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1946 when illness precluded her from attending the ceremony. Very fine. From the Judith Kaplan Women's History Collection.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
