    Description

Émile Zola Autograph Letter Signed. Two pages with integral blank, 5.25" x 8.25", in French, on Library Hachette & Co. letterhead, Paris, December 12, 1863, to an unknown recipient regarding a request "...for a copy of Don Auichotte..." He says, in part: "I have informed Mr. Templier of you wish and I regret to have to tell you that the same that happens to you has happened to Mr. Lavalloir. You have asked for it too late. Two persons have already the authorization for this article. M. Sainte-Beuve to whom G. Dore has given a copy of Don Auichotte and Mr. Louis Enault who has,- as he writes me - the promise of M.P. Limayrac to have his book report passed on with the shortest delay." Light ink bleed-through; smoothed folds. Else fine.

Émile-Édouard-Charles-Antoine Zola was born in Paris in 1840. After working as a clerk and a journalist, he began to write short stories and then later, novels. His sequence of 20 books called Les Rougon-Macquart was described in the subtitle as "the natural and social history of a family under the Second Empire." He was imprisoned in 1898 for his exposure of the Alfred Dreyfus affair to the public, but escaped to England.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
