Elias Boudinot Autograph Letter Signed. One page, with verso address panel, 7.5" x 12", Elizabeth, New Jersey, October 20, 1790, to Abraham Duryea, New York City. The letter reads, in part: " will direct the subpoenas to be read or will direct the person who is to serve them, to call for them whenever the witnesses are examined, the Cause will be read for a hearing after the Governor is appointed. This much is my part of the Duty, as your counsel. As to any compromise or agreement with regard to a conference or application to the Assembly, this rests entirely with yourself..." Folds with trivial stains, fine condition. Writing here in his capacity as a lawyer, Boudinot was also given to public administration. He served in the Continental Congress and later sat in the House of Representatives. The final decade of Boudinot's public life found him directing the fledgling United States Mint in Philadelphia.
