DescriptionEdison Phonograph Works Stock Certificate Issued to Thomas Edison, and Signed Twice by Him. Single page with detached receipt present, 14.5" x 5.75" (including receipt stub); New Jersey, October 25, 1888. Certificate No. 65 issued to Edison for 47 and 017/1000 shares of stock. Edison signs as President on the front; this signature has been hand-cancelled. On the verso, Edison has transferred the shares to himself, and signs "Thos A Edison" adding his umbrella paraph.
Condition: Certificate is gently toned with holographic cancellations. Ink of the signature on verso has blossomed a bit, but signature remains clean. Receipt stub has a bit of adhesive staining along perforation.
