Dwight D. Eisenhower Typed Letter Signed as President. One page, on White House letterhead, approximately 7" x 9", Washington DC, December 28, 1956. Accompanied by original transmittal envelope. Signed "D.E." and in pristine condition. Very fine.

More Information: President Eisenhower sends a personal note to Major General Howard McC. Snyder, his personal physician, expressing his thanks and best wishes for a less stressful new year. In part: "... I realize the strain and responsibility that I unwittingly and unwillingly placed upon you during the year... I am going to try very hard to cause you less anxiety in 1957! " Eisenhower refers to his periodic heart problems (heart attack in September 1955; he later suffered a stroke in 1957) and his bouts with regional enteritis (Crohn's disease), a chronic inflammatory condition of the intestine, which necessitated surgery for a bowel obstruction in June 1956.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
