Confederate Documents: Holographic Telegram from S. Richard de Treville to South Carolina Governor Milledge Bonham regarding Imminent Danger to Charleston. Five pages, the last with docketing on the verso, 7¾" x 5", May 11, 1863, received at Columbia, South Carolina, on partially printed Southern Telegraph Companies forms. The telegram objects to an order by the Confederate Secretary of War to General P. G. T. Beauregard deploying 5,000 troops from Charleston to Mississippi. "...If carried out we shall be stripped of infantry & if attacked both the Charleston & Savannah & Charleston itself are likely to fall." The telegram was sent over the names of de Treville and a committee of prominent Charleston citizens including: George A. Trenholm (Confederate Secretary of the Treasury), T. D. Wagner, J. K. Sass (President of the Bank of Charleston, Henry Gourdin, Alfred Hughes, C. T. Lowndes, C. M. Furman, Danl Ravenel, William Courtney, F. W. Colcock, and B. C. Pressley. A fleet of nine ironclad Union Monitors were already dispatched to attack Fort Sumter. Attached at the top, else very fine.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
