DescriptionConfederate 3rd Mississippi Volunteer Regiment: Officers' Payroll. Two ruled sheets, 10" x 15", November 1861, listing fifty-three officers by name and rank, along with other information regarding their pay: commencement, expiration, number of days, monthly pay, amount paid, and remarks. Written in the upper margin: "Pay Roll of the officers of the 3d Regiment Miss. Vol. C.S.A. from the time of muster in the Service to November 1, 1861." At the time, J. B. Deason served the regiment as colonel and Robert Eager as lieutenant colonel. The regiment organized in the spring of 1861. It surrendered on April 26, 1865, as part of the Army of Tennessee. Some minor soiling and white spotting.
