    Collection of Letters of Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, Hughes, Pershing, Hull, others. Collection of 63 letters (60 TLsS, 3 ALsS), mostly 6" x 9" to 8.5" x 11", 1922-1934, most concerning attendance at the parade of the Brooklyn Sunday Schools. Most of the letters are to William S. Hueston, Chief Marshal, Brooklyn, New York. Includes: TLS: "Warren G. Harding" as President (May 27, 1922) In part: "Senator Calder's active interest, and your own letters, have served to keep in my mind the fact that the annual celebration of the Brooklyn Sunday School Union is to take place within a few days...I feel that this annual event cannot but be an inspiration to better citizenship, and certain to have in future, as in the past, a wide and highly desirable influence." Very fine condition. With original addressed White House envelope with no postal markings indicating it was hand-delivered. TLS: "Calvin Coolidge" (May 5, 1931) "It was kind of you to invite Mrs. Coolidge and me to repeat our visit to Brooklyn and we both regret that it is impossible for us to accept." Soiled in blank areas at right corners, tanned at right and lower edges. Two TLsS: "Herbert Hoover" as Secretary of Commerce, 1923 and 1928, each declining to attend. Tanned at right edges, else in fine condition. Also includes TLsS of Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. (3), Eleanor Roosevelt (as First Lady, 1933), John J. Pershing as General of the Armies (2), R. E. Byrd, Charles E. Hughes as Secretary of State (2), Herbert H. Lehman as Governor of New York (3), Cordell Hull as Secretary of State, A W. Mellon as Secretary of the Treasury, Nicholas Longworth as Speaker of the House (2), Charles Curtis as Vice President (2), Robert F. Wagner as U.S. Senator, Dwight D. Davis as Secretary of War, Harry S. New as Postmaster General, Arthur W. Hyde as Secretary of Agriculture, James W. Good as Secretary of War (served only nine months before dying in office), Charles F. Adams as Secretary of the Navy, Ray Lyman Wilbur as Secretary of the Interior, William D. Mitchell as Attorney General, Alfred E. Smith as Governor of New York, Henry L. Stimson as Secretary of State, Curtis D. Wilbur as Secretary of the Navy, James J. Davis as Secretary of Labor, and Hubert Work as Secretary of the Interior. Includes newspaper articles and related items. Minor defects, mostly light tanning. Overall, in fine condition. Collection placed in display sheets in a loose-leaf album. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
