Dobbin, Pierce Secretary of the Navy 5) 1802 handwritten letter by Robert Smith, (1757-1842), who served as Attorney General, Secretary of the Navy, and Secretary of State 6) Handwritten and signed 1838 financial report by Gideon Welles, Lincoln’s Secretary of the Navy 7) 1848 handwritten letter from John Mason, who served as Secretary of the Navy and Attorney General, and as Congressman introduced the bill recognizing independence of Texas. 8) 1900 handwritten note from Wm. Chandler, U. S. Senator from N. H. and Secretary of the Navy under Authur 9) Lengthy 1854 longhand letter from James Dobbin, Secretary of the Navy under Pierce, regarding a trip to the coast of Africa for the Colonization Society. 10) Handwritten, signed letter from George Robeson, Grant’s Secretary of the Navy Plus 3 more we can’t decipher. No LOA on these, but all are obviously correct. Condition ranges from Fair to Excellent, but all are in presentable display condition.
